Low cost, high quality, permitable hoop houses are here! The foothill series by Gro-tech Systems here in California has a fully engineered hoop house made from 2×2 square stock galvanized steel. You no longer have to spend $100,000+ to have a decent growing environment. Since it’s a permitable structure you can legally bring electricity and propane in to heat, cool, ventilate, dehumidify and run some supplemental lighting. We see this as a way to the bridge the gap between your PVC hoop house and the fully automated setups commercial growers are typically forced to use. It’s hard to pass modern testing when you don’t even have basic control of the atmosphere in a typical hoop house.

We built him a 20×60 with a 125,000 BTU Reznor heater and on demand hot water with mixing valves for warm irrigation water. 60 amps of available power for lighting and a basic ventilation setup. This set him up for one of the most productive starts he had to his full term season.
